Turn instinct into visible structure
Move from discovery and lessons into planning, screenplay work and evidence-backed revision without losing authorship.
Open-source visual story studio
Learn the craft, shape a screenplay and plan the path to screen in one local-first workspace built for writers and filmmakers.
The Human remains the author. AI can explain, suggest, draft, visualize and test ideas, but generated material never silently becomes canon.
PRE-RELEASE PlotPickle is under active development. There is no public Windows installer yet.

PlotPickle turns an ambitious story workflow into a legible path: learn what matters, make explicit creative decisions, connect those decisions to screen work and keep the record portable.
Move from discovery and lessons into planning, screenplay work and evidence-backed revision without losing authorship.

Explore, Develop, Visualize, Review, Pitch, Play and System form the current top-level map. Learn, Community and Library remain visible parts of the workflow, while story development continues through writing, visual planning, review, presentation and playable-story work.

Latest from the public repository
Source reviewed October 21, 2026 at commit 0bc50e3f. PlotPickle separates merged code, automated evidence and observed product behavior so progress stays credible.
Recent source changes make Story Factory verification select the exact active Human profile and project session. The gated native Windows browser journey exists; a fresh live pass is still required before claiming end-to-end proof.
Read PR #3199 →Authenticated Windows tooling can stage and attest exact PR candidates, reject dirty or blocked work and preserve bounded receipts. This advances the governed repair cycle; unattended end-to-end repair remains roadmap work.
Track Factory #3110 →The latest source update targets Wyrmwood panel overflow inside the Matrix host while preserving host navigation. Source and CI evidence are green; real 838px browser geometry remains to be observed.
Read PR #3200 →Roadmap · continuously improving PlotPickle Factory
The Factory vision connects governed software repair, vetted craft and filmmaking knowledge, and source-grounded story coordination. It is a development roadmap—not a claim that unattended repair, automatic story improvement or paid production runs are already available.

PlotPickle converts normalized story time into a shared coordinate system. It lets learning, writing, visual development, feedback and production refer to the same structural region without forcing the story into a rigid template.
These durations are normalized reference regions. Scenes, beats and shots may span, compress or cross them whenever the story requires.
Stable structural addresses, not creative handcuffs. The grid supports stable production addresses and surgical regeneration. It does not mean 2,400 clips must be generated or stored up front.
Regenerate the failed slot, not the entire scene.PlotPickle Score
PlotPickle Score measures available structural evidence across five transparent dimensions. When evidence is insufficient, the result is NR / Not Rated instead of a fabricated number.
The score is not an AI-authorship detector and never replaces Human creative judgment. Human-written, AI-assisted, generated and imported material use the same evidence contract.
Your room · your rules
Use the curriculum, story structure, review tools and project record without connecting AI.
Ask a local or chosen cloud model to explain, explore, test or visualize. You decide what survives.
Named Agents combine a bounded role, relevant context and focused skills without becoming the author.
AI may offer material. Only the Human can make it canon. DRAFT ≠ DECISION
Choose models that run on your own hardware or a private endpoint.
Use optional local image/video workflows and local dictation where configured.
Cloud providers remain deliberate choices. LM Studio may be used as a compatible connection; it is not described as open source.
STORY: The Unwritten
PlotPickle's reusable playable-story engine can run a deterministic five-scene story, validate player actions, resolve creator rules, save and resume sessions and route selected outcomes back through the existing PPF proposal boundary.
AI may interpret or propose. Deterministic STORY code decides mechanical state. Only the existing Human-controlled admission path can make an outcome durable canon.
Seven canonical architectural layers
The public explanation follows the repository architecture rather than inventing a second version of it. Presentation can change; story authority, provider choice and validation boundaries remain explicit.
Replaceable presentation for an audience or device.
The stable product contract behind every Skin.
Authority, consent, lifecycle and execution control.
Specialists collaborating within approved scope.
Deterministic story state and one durable canon authority.
Replaceable local and cloud inference routes.
Independent evidence, diagnostics and release checks.
Community · BUZZ · signed history
Meet people in the Great Hall, continue focused work in Story Rooms and discover official PlotPickle Agents through BUZZ. Community material remains separate from canon until the Human deliberately brings it into the governed approval path.
Built in the open
The repository records the software, tools and reference work that materially contribute to PlotPickle. The machine-readable inventory is authoritative for usage, source, version evidence and licence scope.
Supported does not automatically mean open source. LM Studio and configured proprietary or cloud services are kept outside the OSS inventory rather than being misclassified.
Questions writers and filmmakers ask
PlotPickle is an open-source visual writing and creative-direction studio that connects learning, story planning, screenplay work, visual development, review and playable-story systems around one project record.
No. Writers can use the curriculum, structure, review tools and project record without connecting a model. Local or cloud AI is optional and generated material remains a proposal until the Human accepts it.
Not yet. PlotPickle is in active pre-release development and there is no public Windows installer. Developers can inspect and run the repository from source.
It is PlotPickle's normalized coordinate system: 12 sequences, 24 Story Blocks and 96 Mini-Blocks give learning, writing, feedback and production a shared address without forcing scenes into a rigid template.
Yes. PlotPickle is licensed AGPL-3.0-or-later. The public repository records the source, architecture and machine-readable third-party software inventory.
